The City of Acworth exemplifies the quality of life most Americans dream of. While it is close enough to Atlanta to experience professional sports and cultural events equated with a larger city, the small-town atmosphere of Acworth provokes opportunities for families that offer fun and tranquility close to home. The City and its community host many events year round. Below is a list of annual events. • Historic Downtown Merchant’s First Fridays – Families and friends gather on Main Street in Historic Downtown Acworth on the first Friday of the month to celebrate our unique downtown merchants. First Fridays incorporate special themes and celebrates with restaurant specials, shops stay open late for shopping and live entertainment is offered.


• Classic Car Cruise Night on Main Street – Beginning in the spring through the fall, the Lake City Cruisers partner with the City of Acworth to host Classic Car Cruise Nights on Main Street in Downtown Acworth on the fifth Saturdays of the month. Main Street transforms into flashes from the past as the streets are lined with antique cars. Event starts at 4pm and runs until 9pm.


• Dixie Highway Yard Sale - Every year on the first weekend in June the Dixie Highway Association hosts the nostalgic Dixie Highway Yard Sale which runs straight through Historic Downtown Acworth on Main Street. The yard sale celebrates the revitalization of the Dixie Highway and attracts visitors to simpler times giving communities along the 90 mile route an opportunity to promote their individuality and hidden gems. • Concert Series & Fireworks – Hosted by the Acworth Business Association and the City of Acworth - the community gathers at Cauble Park to enjoy the live music, park festivities, downtown shopping and dining with a grand finale of fireworks over Lake Acworth. Concerts are held for the Fourth of July and Labor Day Weekend. Admission is free to the general public.


• Women’s Triathlon – Come out to cheer the ladies as they dive into the annual Women’s Triathlon at Dallas Landing Beach or congratulate them as they dash across the finish line on Main Street in Historic Downtown. Every August, the Women Triathlon brings in over 600 female participants to downtown Acworth.


• Taste of Acworth – Held in October, the Acworth Business Association and the City sponsor the Taste of Acworth held in Historic Downtown on Main Street. Thousands of visitors are able to taste their way through downtown as they learn about approximately 150 businesses, restaurants, and juried art vendors. Festivities for family include a dog show, fashion show, live music, games and inflatables for the kids, and much more! Admission to the general public is free.


• Merchant Holiday Open House – Fall is a time to begin preparing for the winter holidays. Every November the Historic Downtown Acworth Merchants host their annual Merchant Holiday Open House. Merchants proudly display their holiday merchandise and the restaurants prepare dinning specials to celebrate the upcoming holidays. Come shop for your special someone on Main Street.


• Santa’s Arrival – The City of Acworth and the Historic Downtown Acworth Merchants host Santa’s Arrival on the First Friday of December as a kick-off for the Winter Holidays. Festivities include the lighting of the Christmas tree on Main Street, live music, the Mayor’s reading of The Night Before Christmas and much more!
